Happy birthday, Andy Thigpen. Sisters are overrated and I am the luckiest girl in the land.
I hope 23 is kind to you.
Be safe. May the wind fill your sails and may your socks stay dry.

Mother's Day 2013

“It is the custom of every good mother after her children are asleep to rummage in their minds and put things straight for next morning, repacking into their proper places the many articles that have wandered during the day. If you could keep awake (but of course you can’t) you would see your own mother doing this, and you would find it very interesting to watch her. It is quite like tidying up drawers. You would see her on her knees, I expect, lingering humorously over some of your contents, wondering where on earth you had picked this thing up, making discoveries sweet and not so sweet, pressing this to her cheek as if it were as nice as a kitten, and hurriedly stowing that out of sight. When you wake in the morning, the naughtinesses and evil passions with which you went to bed have been folded up small and placed at the bottom of your mind; and on the top, beautifully aired, are spread out prettier thoughts, ready for you to put on.”  - J.M. Barrie

Happy Mother's Day, mamacita. Thank you for teaching me about "soft-ball stage" when it comes to making chocolate oatmeal cookies. Thank you for teaching me to never take the first magazine on the rack but to reach behind and take one from the back. Thank you for your endless patience. Thank you for the pounds and pounds and pounds and pounds of meats and fruits that you've given me over the years. Thank you for letting me make bad decisions and have growing experiences. Thank you for being you.

This summer is going to knock my socks off. I have big plans and high expectations.
First on the list is to pack my bags to move home. I'll be doing that today.
After that comes all of the fun.
Days and nights of playing, reading and dancing with Jon Christian. Cooking for my mom.
Camping trips and kayaking with Andy and his friends. Hoping that New York City is ready for its newest resident Abbey, who is moving there for the summer. A wedding with Mr. Jeffrey Weichman. A wild and wacky birthday party for my roommate. Volunteering, building up my art portfolio, reading and picking out grad schools and internships for the future.
This summer will be a busy one!

Summer 2013, it's go time. Bring it on.

My blog is turning two today!

Two years ago, I sat on my bed at my dad's house and made a blog. I named it "Go Placidly"from the Desiderata and as I've gotten older and as I've become more and more aware of myself I have found that this name is not appropriate.

To go placidly, one must go through life without being easily upset or excited.
I consider myself to be pretty easygoing and slow to anger most of the time (except about trash tv, When I Find the Ocean, and The Mist).  Oh, and I'm easily excited. I mean...too easily excited. I am always excited. Even when I'm down, I am excited. I can't explain it. Everything is entertaining. So many things are funny. Everything is exciting.
For a couple of years, this was not the case. But now, it's more true than ever before and I know that this Sarah Thigpen isn't the type to go placidly.

So, I'm changing the name of my blog.

Life lately...

Exam week is almost over and I'm pleased with how it went. I passed all of my classes, finished my prints, and am almost done with a painting. I have to write one paper and then I'm free!

And the Great White Shark is suffering a bit. But, maybe that will be over soon, too.
Thank you for all of your help, Weichman!
